Negotiators from the United Kingdom and the European Union have reached a breakthrough agreement on a comprehensive security and defense coordination treaty, signaling a major rapprochement in post-Brexit diplomatic relations.

The accord, finalized after intense negotiations in Brussels, establishes a structured framework for joint defense industrial planning, crisis management missions, and intelligence sharing between London and the twenty-seven member states.

Under the treaty, British aerospace and defense manufacturers will be permitted to bid on projects financed through the European Defense Fund, while British military planners will coordinate closely with the EU Military Staff on strategic transport and crisis evacuations.

"Geopolitical realities require European democracies to stand shoulder to shoulder. Our security cooperation transcends the boundaries of the single market."
— Joint UK-EU Diplomatic Declaration

Parliamentary and Council Ratification Ahead

The draft treaty now moves to the UK House of Commons and the European Parliament for formal debate and ratification. Both British government whips and European Council leaders anticipate solid bipartisan support despite lingering eurosceptic reservations.
